AESC Announces 2017 Award Recipients
The worldwide Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants (AESC) recognized during today’s AESC Global Conference in New York City the outstanding achievements of four executive search and leadership consulting professionals for their significant contributions to the profession and the community.
The AESC Lifetime Achievement Award honors long-term achievement in the executive search and leadership consulting profession. This year’s award goes to Peter Drummond-Hay, Managing Director at Russell Reynolds Associates. Currently Head of all Asia Pacific, Drummond-Hay has more than 30 years of leadership experience within Russell Reynolds Associates, including in Europe, Canada and Latin America. No one in the history of the firm has held a wider array of both regional and sector leadership roles. He has mentored and developed a litany of consultants who have gone on to senior leadership roles in the profession.
The AESC Award of Excellence, recognizing an individual who has made a significant impact in enhancing the executive search and leadership consulting profession in a meaningful way, is bestowed on Julie Daum, Partner and Leader of the North American Board Practice at Spencer Stuart, New York. For more than 20 years, Daum has helped boards around the world identify and recruit independent directors and provided advice to board chairs, CEOs and nominating committees. Daum has been committed to diversity her entire career, and 42% of her practice’s placements in the last year have been minority executives or women. Recently Daum was involved in developing AESC’s Guiding Principles for Board Search and Advisory Services, crafted to define the important role that AESC member firms play in enhancing board effectiveness using a process that is designed to deliver client-centered results.
The AESC Commitment to the Community Award recognizes a strong commitment to service and volunteerism and goes to Thomas Fuller, CEO and Managing Partner at Epsen Fuller/IMD, New York. Fuller has more than 20 years of experience in executive search and leadership consulting. He is also the founder and Board President of the Freedom Riders Cycling Club, a New Jersey and Boston-based cycling group that participates each year in the Pan Mass Challenge (PM). The PMC is a 200 mile bike-a-thon that raises funds for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. For the past 14 years and almost 3000 miles later, Fuller has raised funds for this worthy cause. In addition, Fuller has conducted numerous pro-bono searches, including for The New York City Rescue Mission. Fuller has served on the AESC Board of Directors and as Secretary Treasurer on the AESC Americas Council.
The Future of the Profession Award honors the next generation of leaders of the profession and goes to Pilar Brogeras, Director at Stanton Chase, Mexico City. Brogeras serves as a positive role model as Global Head of the firm’s talent management strategy, which developed and articulated best practices, new internal and external documentation, and marketing materials. She developed their Young Professionals Team. Brogeras has been with Stanton Chase for nine years, progressing from Research to Associate Consultant to now Director in the firm’s largest office in Latin America. She has also increased diversity representation at the consultant level within the firm from 24% to 35%. Brogeras earned the Advanced Certificate in Executive Search and Leadership Consulting from AESC and Cornell University ILR School in 2016.
Karen Greenbaum, AESC President & CEO, said: “We are honored to recognize the exceptional achievements of AESC members at our 2017 Global Conference. Through their commitment to standards of excellence within the profession and the community at large, our 2017 award recipients are outstanding examples of how AESC members both serve client organizations worldwide as trusted advisors and give back to their communities, too.”
