Royer Thompson Welcomes Cheryl Fraser
Royer Thompson is delighted to announce the appointment of Cheryl Fraser (Cheryl Fraser - Royer Thompson) as Principal Advisor, joining the Talent and HR Advisory Practice as a key member. With over 35 years of executive-level experience in both private and publicly traded companies, governments, not-for-profit, and volunteer organizations, Cheryl most recently served as the Chief Talent Officer & Vice President Communications at Crombie REIT.
Her extensive executive management skills encompass strategic planning, compensation, human resources, and communications. Cheryl has successfully led major change management initiatives, organizational restructuring, succession planning, and governed large HR projects. Before her tenure at Crombie REIT, she spent over 25 years in executive roles within the federal public service, including positions as Assistant Commissioner and Chief Human Resource Officer for the Canada Revenue Agency in Ottawa. She also held Assistant Deputy Minister roles in the Correctional Service of Canada, Treasury Board Secretariat, and Fisheries and Oceans.
Cheryl brings a wealth of experience working with Boards, CEOs, and executive teams to foster long-term success. Her focus includes organizational design, succession planning & transition, talent strategies, onboarding of CEOs and Executives, learning & development, career conversations, executive compensation programs, executive departures, process improvement, culture & inclusive leadership, board governance, and meeting preparation, as well as public disclosure.
With decades of board governance experience, Cheryl has served on audit & risk, investment, and human resources committees. Currently, she chairs Dalhousie University’s Board of Governors and sits on the Board of the Atlantic Economic Council. Previous directorships include Wyth Financial (Concentra Bank), Mental Health Commission of Canada, Aberdeen Health Foundation, and the Pictou County YMCA. Cheryl is a graduate of ICD-Rotman and the London School of Economics certificate program in Inclusive Leadership through Behavioural Science. Holding a Masters of Environmental Studies and a BSc, Cheryl was recognized as one of the Globe & Mail's Report on Business Top 50 Executives in 2021.
