Headlight International: How Mobile are Top Retail Executives?

Each quarter, our exclusive barometer in partnership with Headlight International, will illustrate the professional mobility of top retail executives in various regions of the world. This 1st edition presents a picture of 327 top executives from 14 countries of Western Europe (Germany, United Kingdom, France, etc). 52% of the polled retail senior executives have been working within their firm for less than 3 years.

“In the retail sector, directors are eager to broaden their professional careers by changing countries, companies and positions, which demonstrates that the top retail talents are becoming more international, much open and more risk takers, said Edouard-Nicolas Dubar, Associate Director of executive search consultancy Headlight International. In Europe, they stay at a position an average of 5 years. There is a higher turnover of senior executives in Asia with an average of 2 years and in the USA with an average of 3 years. We are now seeing a war for talent, with 68% of top executives who are ready to change their position within a year.”
