41% of Senior Executives Say "No" to Heavy Business Travel

New York — September 19, 2006, 2006 — In a recent poll of 239 senior executives around the world, 41% stated that they are less willing to take a new job that involves heavy business travel, compared with 5 years ago.

The poll was conducted from September 8 to 12 by BlueSteps.com. BlueSteps.com, is the career management service of the Association of Executive Search Consultants, the worldwide association for the retained executive search industry.

Respondents were asked: "Compared with 5 years ago, are you more or less willing to take a new job that involves heavy business travel?"

Forty-one percent said they were less willing, and 80% of those less willing cited interference with work-life balance as the reason why. Thirty-two percent said there was no difference between now and 5 years ago, and 28% said they were more willing.

Comments included: "Terrorism is a factor, but also the time it takes to travel when there are so many good electronic alternatives", "The biggest issue is the time loss to and from airports"" and "Travel is a pain."

The geographical makeup of respondents was:

54% from North America
27% from Europe
6% from Asia/Pacific
8% from Latin America
