SENIOR EXECUTIVES PREFER SINGAPORE
NEW YORK — March 17, 2006 — In a poll of 933 senior executives worldwide, 32.2% percent would prefer to work in Singapore when asked to choose between Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and India. The poll was conducted by the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), the worldwide professional association for retained executive search firms, from February 10th, 2006 — March 15th, 2006. Respondents were asked, "Out of the following countries in Asia, in which would you be most interested in working?" Full results were:
- Singapore — 32.2% (300)
- Hong Kong — 23.4% (218)
- China — 21.5% (201)
- Japan — 12.5% (117)
- India — 10.4% (97)
Responding senior executives were from: North America (59.2%), Europe (26.6%), Asia Pacific (9%), Latin America (2.5%), and other regions (2.7%).
AESC president Peter Felix noted: "Singapore has invested tremendously in many aspects of its infrastructure, education, and culture to make itself a welcoming and profitable centre for foreign business and international executives. These results do not surprise me and are a tribute to Singapore's management and political leadership since the Second World War."
